Meet the Owner

Hello, I'm Taylor Tidwell, both a Licensed Louisiana Massage Therapist and Yoga Instructor. In my massage sessions I love guiding others to that place right in the middle of what in Sanskrit is called sthira and sukha. In english this can be translated as effort and ease. That in between space, that place that exists on the threshold of holding on and letting go, that is where true healing takes place. This is what I seek in all of my sessions, a balance between depth and release.
Many times I have been to bodyworkers and found great deep tissue technique but with no ounce of lightness. Then with others, I have found a total lightness of work but with no depth to really give me the relief I am seeking. Either way I leave with a longing for the missing piece of the pie. I personally want both, both the effort and the ease, and that's the type of work that I aim to provide. This is work that will give you techniques needed to release regions of rigid tension, stretches that provide lasting effects, and then perhaps followed by a wonderful breath of aromatherapy or the therapeutic vibration of a singing bowl placed directly over the heart to allow you to move beyond just the outer physical levels and into much deeper subtle realms. Sthira and sukha go hand in hand when looking for total balance.
I hope you enjoy the healing space of Refuge Massage & Salt Spa.
I have had the great fortune of studying with some wonderful teachers locally and around the world and I am so grateful for all that have helped me along the way. I completed my first yoga teacher training in 2013 and soon after found the connection to massage and bodywork. After completing a local massage program in 2014, I left on pilgrimage where I spent many months in Asia studying Thai massage, meditation, and yoga. As I've refined my skills over the years, my practice has also evolved to include a keen interest in the traditional medicines of Ayurveda. These modalities on offer have been practiced for centuries and their efficacies well documented. I'm very excited to be able to share these ancient techniques with you so that you can discover yourself how they help to balance and heal.
Namaste!
